The creation of a culture of wellbeing informed by humanistic values is our corporate policy. And it must be a culture rooted to and prioritizing academic research.
We believe that the synergetic integration of Chinese and Western medicine is highly beneficial to better understand the workings of life to promote health. Since 1991, we have been working with China’s Peking University Hospital, a leading institution on the fusion of the two medical bodies of thought. We are also partnering with frontline pharmaceutical universities and healthcare institutions on research to build and enhance a broad evidence-based knowledge base.
We are partners with the University of Shizuoka School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hokkaido University Graduate School of Health Sciences, the University of Tsukuba International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine, Japanese health care institutions, Oyster Research Institute, Peking University Hospital and Zhejiang University Hospital. Clinical data from human tests is crucial for empirical evaluation, as results from animal experimentation may not be directly relevant to human beings. We do however examine certain types of data—such as the mechanism of action on organs, for which human experimentations are impossible—through experiments on lab animals.
Our evaluation protocols dictate that we determine the efficacy of our products strictly on a scientific, objective basis, thus preventing WOL from either over-estimating or under-estimating a product’s worth. Our evaluations have been proven by evidence accrued through joint research with other institutions.
Based on our longstanding research on the benefit of oyster meat to human health, we have identified various effects of oyster meat extract. Our work has led to the discovery of a new antioxidant found in it, as well as the securing of patents in Japan and filing of numerous patent applications worldwide.
Among the patents we have secured to date are
*Method for producing oyster meat extract by vacuum low temperature heating concentration (Japanese patent no. 4553788)
*Method for producing oyster meat extract by continuous centrifuge (Japanese patent no. 4697978)
*Method for forming adenosine-containing oyster extract (Japanese patent no. 4716523)
Other patent filings are in the works, not only in Japan but around the world.
